Stephen Aiken

Stephen Aiken (b. 1948, Cambridge, MA) is an American artist who uses multiple modes of expression.
Aiken received the first-ever Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography (cum laude) from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst in 1972. Stephen Aiken has been involved with modern and contemporary art for fifty years. Aiken’s work has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions
His critical writing and photographs have appeared in Art News, Provincetown Arts Magazine, Art New England and several publications in France, Germany, & Switzerland. Aiken’s first foray into publishing came in 1968 with two reviews for the Boston Globe’s Arts and Humanities section.
Aiken is presently represented by El Zapote Gallery – Merida MX, and 234 Gallery Hannah – Wellfleet Mass and The School House Gallery, Provincetown, Mass.
Engagement with art history
Aiken first exhibited at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in 1975. And later at the Hell town Salon Gallery Ehva, and Hammock Gallery.
He is the cofounder of s.p.a.c.e. SDCA The Seaport District Cultural Association date and 234 Gallery Hannah
In 2007-2010 Aiken worked as a curator for Seaport District Cultural Association in Downtown Manhattan. He coordinated and exhibited in numerous exhibitions in the historic neighborhoods surrounding Peck’s and Conti’s Slips.
